We decided to plant a few flowers in amongst the lettuces, parsley, leeks, basil, red and yellow peppers, marjoram, dill and squash. The lettuce made a fantastic salad mixed with a few of the fresh herbs and some of our marvelous Tuscan olive oil.

May 2014 : The Kitchen Garden is Planted!
My wonderful cousins Connie and Susie helped me plant the kitchen garden. Here’s Connie putting in the last pepper plants.
The Rosa Rugosa from the Roccolo garden at Poggio Verde
This lovely Rosa Rugosa plant is showing its first delicate pink flower. At the bottom right of the picture the first geranium flower is visible just peeking out. The flowers have come late after an unusually wet early summer.

3 July, 2014 Hummingbird Moth Doing Nature’s Work
This adorable Hummingbird moth enjoyed gathering nectar from our impatiens bed. It was a beautiful sight to see and she was not shy in the least!
